I began my investment banking career with Paine, Webber, Jackson and Curtis, in 1984. Many of you know this since we have maintained an investment relationship since the 1980's. I have grown with all the many changes the investment advisory has encountered since that time, and after a four year stint with Hanifen, Imhoff Securities from 1987-1991, I decided to become an "independent" advisor and chose to use First Allied Securities as my broker dealer. By being independent, I can offer my clients the broadest choice of investment vehicles and products without undue influence that is often exercised by other investment banking firms.
Faith and commitment are important to me, and I try to live each day by honoring my commitment to my clients and family to the best of my ability. I have been blessed with three beautiful children and wife that drive my enthusiasm and purpose each and every day.
I was born and raised in Flint, MI, the birthplace of General Motors, and truly a blue collar town. My family ran a construction/home improvement business that employed over 50 employees its peak in the early 1980's. I learned all phases of the business from working on the crews, to managing the warehouse and performing sales. It was a gratifying and very important learning experience for me. That experience has been invaluable to me in working with clients, especially those with businesses that require special investment planning needs.
I graduated from Albion College, in 1978, with a double major in English/History, and was active in writing and journalism. This background helped prepare me for the product, news and company research, and attention to economic detail that I now indulge in with my investment advisory practice. After graduation and a few years in the family business, I migrated west to Denver in 1982, and worked for a business consulting firm before entering the investment banking business.
I am always pursuing additional continuing education when I can, and currently am a Registered Principal, with the following registered securities licenses: Series 24 (Registered Securities Principal), Series 7 (General Securities Rep), Series 51 (Municipal Securities Ltd Principal), Series 99 (Operations Professional), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law).
I still enjoy playing and captaining competitive tennis, and have been active in multiple other competitive sports throughout my life.
With all the complexities of investing in the modern age of high speed trading, rapidly changing international fiscal policies and events, and the emergence of so many investment products, my experience is invaluable for being objective and providing a historical perspective for your investment needs. Simplifying your estate and tax planning needs is always a goal in conjuction with managing your investments.
